Reflection

Anyone who stops learning is old — whether this happens at twenty or at eighty. Anyone who keeps on learning not only remains young but becomes constantly more valuable — regardless of physical capacity.

This course makes me feel valuable as I acquire knowledge and learn to use those diverse technology tools with whom I was just familiar by their name in context of teaching/learning.  Unit 3 part 1 targets to make the participants get familiar and experience and later able to create the web-based activities for the Interpretive Mode. Also the Unit focus on developing the skills of participants to become enable to incorporate web applications in their lesson plans effectively in a way that technology supports in achieving the lesson objectives. At every step, for every activity participants received feedback and guidance from peers and instructors regarding their formulated activity.  

The first interpretive activity started with the introduction and usage of Viocethread and later make the participants get awareness about Google Form, Play Posit, Padlet and wide range of other tools for the Interpretive Mode. The ‘Reading Interpretive activity’ and ‘Listening Interpretive activity’ provide us the good practicing exercises to plan a language skills development activities by integrating the technology application effectively.

Lesson 3.2 focuses on the interpersonal mode of communication and makes the participants to work closely with one another to communicate synchronously. The added dimension of this lesson demands the learners to find or create web-based language support (grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, cultural content, etc.) activities / materials for an online lesson along experiencing and creating web-based activities for assessment and feedback. I and Ms. Nyla Uzma Khizer enjoyed a lot while collaborating and designing an interpersonal activity by using the AIR model which help in scaffolding the online conversation and interaction. This provides us the experience and understanding of evaluation document which we can use in our future teaching/learning for getting thoughtful reflection. ‘Creating additional language support materials’ is also fun activity making us awareness of using quizlet, Edlet and pedlet tools and integrate it with our found language material for creating students’ interest based activities.

Lesson 3.3 give us the experience and guide us to create web-based activities for the Presentational Mode. In the Voicethread activity I was member of the Group C and we played a role in family discussion for deciding a movie to watch. This activity was very good exercise of collaborative presentational interaction. Presentational Example 3 – Screencast gave me chance to use the said tool to share my Shanghai China travelogue with my fellow course members. Further “Speaking and Writing Presentational activities’ help us in implementing and reinforcing our acquired knowledge about this domain of learning.

Hence, after going through all the 3 Units of this course I am feeling more mature and knowledgeable in using educational technology tools and application for teaching different language aspects. I am very grateful to my Instructors for their constant and ever ready guidance and feedback and the constant support of my course fellows. This was truly a happy learning experience of my life.
