UNIT:1Reflection

All the different aspects and activities enlisted and discussed in the Unit – 1 of the course are essential ingredients for successful course completion. So, as virtual LEARNERS of this course I have resoluted that I will try to achieve and meet all the required expectations and roles through my determination and intrinsic motivation, for acquiring new and fecund knowledge of this course.

1.         Voice thread activity in this Lesson 1.1 is a new learning for me. I have worked on it by learning about its different features and producing my own voice threads as well as looking into voice thread of my other course mates. I am planning to adopt this activity for my Bachelors level students’ introduction activity. In this activity they will be asked to give and record their audio/video introduction for their ‘English Comprehension’ course fellows.

2.         In Lesson 1.2 Course Planning- Need analysis focusing on ‘Analyze your Context, Delivery Format, and Students’ is very substantial learning for me. Although I was familiar with the basic gest of Course planning but this lesson presented awareness about more varied dimensions like ‘Time management factor’. My learning from this lesson regarding the solution and suggestions for time managements added following effective tips in my knowledge:

i.          Setting clear goals, which should be specific, measurable, realistic and time bound

ii.         Making and following the study plan calendar along study schedule

iii.        Setting the time lines for assignments and different graded activities.

iv.        Daily logging in at LMS or student teacher accounts and working bit by bit on daily basis and avoid piling up the tasks for the last minute submission

v.         Collaborate and do team or group work without wasting time in distractions

3.         Lesson 1.3 made me get familiarized with the first "D" in ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate) and suggested guidelines and checklists for Quality Online Courses helped me in getting the clear idea about how to design an online course? Also the reading of these guidelines and checklists that have been developed by different institutions and organizations and approved by national organizations made me realized that some factors/ aspects that are consistent across all guidelines, but there are some differences too which are important to different schools or organizations.

I evaluated the TTLO course by keeping in mind the points of provided checklists or guidelines. After going through suggested ‘Syllabus Checklist for Online Courses’ I have realized that my proposed course syllabus was missing the details about ‘Student responsibilities’ focusing on homework and other daily responsibilities, which I am expected to sort out by going through coming units of this course.
